Baseball diamonds were not exactly designed with wheelchairs and crutches in mind. It is our intent to remove the barriers of a typical baseball field for a child with a disability. The Fresno Grizzlies Community Fund, Granite Construction and Clovis Unified School District will be teaming up to build a Field of Dreams for Junior Grizzlies. This field will be built with a custom-designed synthetic turf surface that accomodates wheelchairs and children of all abilities. With the outfield and infield all being one level, kids will be able to move around the diamond easier.
The field is currently being built at Gateway High School at Herndon and Sunnyside in Clovis. In order to build the field we must raise over $400,000 for the field construction.
As the projects largest partner, Granite Construction will be donating the construction of the project, prior to the turf being installed. Granite Construction has also solicited other Valley companies to assist in the construction of this project. For a full list of field partners click here.
